Frequently asked questions
Can I crop to a specific aspect ratio?
Yes. Choose Free for any shape, or lock the crop box to common ratios — 1:1 for avatars, 16:9 for video thumbnails, 4:3, 3:2, or 9:16 for vertical stories.
Will cropping reduce the image quality?
No noticeable loss. The crop is taken directly from the full-resolution image, so the only pixels removed are the ones outside your selection. PNG output is completely lossless.
What format is the cropped image saved in?
It keeps the original format where possible (JPEG, PNG, or WebP); other types are saved as PNG. Transparent PNGs keep their transparency.
Is my photo uploaded to a server to crop it?
No. The cropper runs entirely in your browser — your photo is loaded, cropped, and exported locally. It never leaves your device and is never uploaded.
