What is an XML sitemap for?
An XML sitemap lists the pages on your site so search engines can discover and crawl them more efficiently, which is especially helpful for large or newer sites.
Do I need to set a priority and change frequency for every URL?
No, both are optional hints. Google has said it largely ignores priority and changefreq values, though some other search engines and tools still consider them.
How many URLs can one sitemap file hold?
The sitemap protocol allows up to 50,000 URLs (or 50MB uncompressed) per file. Larger sites split URLs across multiple sitemaps and link them from a sitemap index file.
Is my list of URLs uploaded anywhere?
No. The XML is generated entirely in your browser from the URLs you paste in — nothing leaves your device.
